Lincoln AwardDecatur Memorial Hospital Recognized for Performance Excellence by The Illinois House of Representatives of the Ninety-Fifth General Assembly.

Decatur Memorial Hospital was one of six Illinois organizations recognized May 2 by the Illinois House of Representatives of the Ninety-Fifth General Assembly for being awarded the 2006 Lincoln Silver Award for Progress Towards Excellence by the Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence.

House Resolution 0342 was sponsored in the Illinois House of Representatives by Rep. Sandra M. Pihos, R-Ill., 42nd District, and co-sponsored by 11other Illinois representatives including Rep. Robert F. Flider, D-Ill., 101st District.

The Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence is an annual recognition of Illinois organizations that have demonstrated exemplary approach, deployment and results in overall quality systems and processes. The award is patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and is presented to organizations that serve as role models for quality, customer satisfaction and performance excellence.

"Having received the Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence Silver Award represents a major milestone for our hospital in our continuing journey to deliver benchmark quality healthcare to the people of central Illinois," said Ken Smithmier, President & CEO, Decatur Memorial Hospital.
