Celebrate American Heart Month with DMH
Pump up your heart in February by celebrating American Heart Month with Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Each Saturday in February, learn how to maintain heart health at DMH Center Stage in Hickory Point Mall, Forsyth. Free blood pressure screening will be offered following each speaker and giveaways will be available while supplies last.
“Heart Healthy Cooking Demonstration and Samplings,” along with “How to Read Food Labels” will be presented by Monica Nyman, registered dietitian, DMH Wellness Center, on Feb. 7, at 11 a.m.
“Diet and Exercise for a Healthy Heart” will be presented by Nidal Aker, M.D., non-invasive cardiologist, Illinois Heart Specialists, on Feb. 14 at 11 a.m.
“Signs and Symptoms of a Heart Attack” will be presented by Madhu Jyothinagaram, M.D., invasive cardiologist, Illinois Heart Specialists, on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m.
On Feb. 28, a fashion show featuring the color red will begin at 10 a.m. followed at 11 a.m. with “How Heart Disease Affects Women” presented by Tansel Turgut, M.D., interventional cardiologist, Illinois Heart Specialists. Dance Demonstrations begin at 12:15 p.m., to celebrate National Day of Dance for Health. Also, check out the new 2009 Mercedes and BMWs throughout the mall courtesy of Isringhausen Imports in Springfield.
