While You Are Here
Your Room
We will do our best to assign you to a room of your choice - private or semi-private. If your preference is not available when you are admitted, we will transfer you as soon as a room of your choice becomes available.
Identifying Staff
All DMH employees can be identified by a badge which displays the employee's picture, first name and position or title. In addition, each employee who provides for your care in any way should identify him or herself. If not, please ask the employee to tell you who they are, the department they are from, and what service they are performing.
Medication
For your protection, the medications you recieve at DMH will be prescribed by your doctor and will be prepared and administered by hospital personnel. Please do not bring or take medication from home while you are in the hospital unless requested to do so. Be sure to ask your doctor about regular medications you take at home.
You may have prescriptions filled at the DMH Pharmacy. For more information, call 217-876-6200.
Smoking
Effective July 4, 2006, Independence Day, the campus at Decatur Memorial Hospital became smoke free. The hospital’s mission is To improve the health of the people of Central Illinois. Because of that, the hospital’s current nonsmoking policy will be expanded. All DMH-owned buildings and grounds will become smoke free. All employees, patients, visitors and volunteers will not be permitted to smoke anywhere on any DMH property.
