Hyperthyroidism is a disorder in which the thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone for your body’s needs. It can have several causes including Graves disease( an autoimmune thyroid disease in which the thyroid gland is stimulated inappropriately to produce too much thyroid hormone), Thyroiditis, Toxic Goiter, and Tumors (autonomously functioning thyroid nodules which produce too much thyroid hormone).
