Not all physical and occupational therapists are Certified Hand Therapists. CHTs achieve and maintain the highest level of competency in caring for injuries or conditions affecting upper extremities. They know the most up-to-date treatments and are experts in postsurgical therapy, including fabricating upper extremity splints.

A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is an occupational therapist or physical therapist that has passed a rigorous CHT examination, has a minimum of three years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. There are just over 6,000 CHT in the United States, and we have five in the Decatur Area!
