The DMH Rehabilitation Department provides optimum care for patients who have amputations and are preparing to train or are already training with a prosthesis.
A specialty-trained physical therapy team works together to correct problems associated with amputations and prosthetic use. The team works closely with a prosthetist to facilitate the rehabilitation process for each individual patient.
This team approach means problems that might otherwise go unnoticed such as skin issues, prosthetic fit, phantom limb sensation, and joint contractures can be caught early and corrected. Regular appointments with the DMH Rehabilitation Department can greatly reduce the chances of these complications.
