Jan. 18, 2018…Decatur, Ill…Decatur Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that the employees of Monsanto in Illiopolis IL, have donated $3,260.00 to the DMH Breast Center. Funds were raised through a company initiative of spreading awareness and the sale of pink Monsanto Breast Cancer shirts throughout the month of October.

The DMH Breast Center is a program which provides comprehensive integrated services for patients with breast disease through state‐of‐the-art imaging and comprehensive surgical and treatment techniques. “Breast reconstruction has shown to be protective against depression, low self-esteem and poor body image,” said Abigail Cochran, MD, SIU Medicine Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. “ At DMH, the breast center provides patients with access to every aspect of breast care – from screening to removing the cancer, to making the breast whole again.”

“Our breast care team helps our patients with breast disease through their entire course of treatment,” said George A. Liu, MD, DMH Medical Group General Surgeon. “As an integrated breast center we provide the most current therapies to help our patients to wellness.” Trained nurses serve as navigators to provide support and education to you and your family. Other supportive services available to enhance patient care include physical therapy, nutritional services, pastoral services, social services and support groups. “We support local women in Central Illinois who are diagnosed with breast disease,” said Pam McMillen, DMH Breast Cancer Navigator. “The funds will help these individuals directly as they enable us to provide them with quality educational materials and patient services at the time of diagnosis, during their treatment, and at the time of their survivorship visit.” Medical experts from specialized fields of radiology, pathology, surgery, and medical/radiation oncology review all patients diagnosed with breast cancer to develop individualized comprehensive care plans.
