Decatur Memorial Hospital and SIU Medicine host local Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day Event on October 18
Oct. 5, 2017…DECATUR, Ill…Decatur Memorial Hospital and SIU Medicine are hosting Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day Decatur on Wednesday, October 18 in the Classroom Complex at the Hospital at 5:30 p.m. This event focuses on breast reconstruction and life after breast cancer.
This free program will feature the following speakers and topics:
Breast Cancer Treatment– George Liu, M.D., General, Breast Surgeon, DMH Medical Group
Implant-based Reconstruction – Jordan Youngerman, M.D., Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, DMH Medical Group
Autologous (using your own tissue) Reconstruction and Secondary Reconstruction Procedures – Abigail Cochran, M.D., SIU Medicine, Institute for Plastic Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Also on-hand will be DMH Durable Medical Equipment (DME), DMH Breast Center Navigators, Community Support Groups and implant vendors who will provide education and awareness regarding post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m. with panel discussion starting at 6:00 p.m. A question and answer session follows.
Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day is collaboration between the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Plastic Surgery Foundation, breast centers, nurse navigators, corporate partners and breast cancer support groups.
