DMH’s South Shores Imaging Hosting Open House
June 12, 2018. Decatur, Ill. Mammograms are to breast cancer – as – colonoscopies are to colon cancer – as – lung screenings are to lung cancer. That’s the message DMH hopes to drive home Thursday, June 21 during an informational public open house from 5-7 p.m. at DMH South Shores Imaging Center, 1689 S. Franklin St., Decatur.
“Just like mammograms for breast cancer and colonoscopies for colon cancer, early detection is the key for lung cancer too,” says Dave Overlot, Executive Director, Radiology. “If you smoke or know someone who smokes, please take a few minutes to attend, ask us questions and see if a lung screening is right for you,”
Details about who qualifies and how to get this a simple five-minute low-dose CT scan will be available. Those who attend will get an opportunity to talk with DMH Radiologists and other experts. Free blood pressure screenings, carotid artery screenings, and pulmonary function tests will also be available. Participants can enter a drawing to win an iPad. Light refreshments included.
Lung screenings are recommended if—
- you are 55-80 years old
- currently smoke or have quit in the past 15 years
- have smoked a pack a day or more for 30 years
