Women’s Breast Health Education Benefits From Golf Tournament Proceeds

December 15, 2016…Decatur, Ill…A check for $4,536.00 was presented to Decatur Memorial Foundation recently from the South Side Country Club Ladies 9 and 18-hole Golf League Tournament with funds raised during their recent golf tournament.

These funds will be used for the Mammography Initiative (no-cost screening mammograms to women who meet the financial guidelines), the HER Group Cancer Support Group, and breast cancer research in Decatur and Macon County. Decatur Memorial Hospital is a research affiliate with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and is currently involved in more than 100 research trials.

The golf tournament hosted 30 golfers to South Side Country Club on June 28, 2016, raising a total of $4,536.00. According to Co-Chair of the tournament, Jan Miller, the event has raised a total of $288,583.48 since January, 2001.

Decatur Memorial Hospital (DMH), located in Decatur, Ill., is a 300 bed, not-for-profit, community hospital that has been providing medical care since 1916 for the residents of Central Illinois.
