Central Illinois Health Information Exchange

The Central Illinois Health Information Exchange (CIHIE) is a network of electronic health records (EHR), insurance claims, and other sources that connects healthcare providers from across 20 counties in central Illinois. This local network will ultimately be able to connect with other regional and national exchanges, supporting extensive information portability for patients.

Decatur Memorial Hospital has pledged to be members of CIHIE will be the first in central Illinois to tap into the power of modern healthcare communication.

As healthcare rapidly advances with the aid of technology, DMH is pleased to announce its membership in the Central Illinois Health Information Exchange (CIHIE). Along with 15 other participating health care providers stretched across 20 counties in central Illinois, DMH is participating in CIHIE to make health information more readily accessible to physicians, hospitals, clinics and other health care providers. Federal authorities forecast this type of networking to become nation-wide in the future. Our community is fortunate to be leading in the initiative.

CIHIE places the right information at the right time in providers’ hands thereby providing the best care to patients. Its core aims are to improve care coordination, decrease duplicate tests and services, reduce medical errors, provide better information to clinicians, and improve overall health in our communities.
